Connect Firewire/USB 2 external hard drive to new MacBook Air USB 4?

Hi all! My old MacBook Air is backed up on an external hard drive that uses Firewire 800 or USB 2.0 cables. My new MacBook Air only has the Thunderbolt / USB 4 inputs.

How can I set up my new laptop using the TimeMachine backups from my previous laptop? Is there an adapter that will work?

Thanks!

This adaptor will work to connect to USB 2 (or USB 3) devices and drives to a Thunderbolt 3 port on a new computer. I use several with older drives.

If you want to use Firewire 800, which is faster than USB 2, I think you need

Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter

but that is a Thunderbolt 2 adaptor so you will also need to connect a Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adaptor as well

Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter
