When I turn my laptop on and enter my password to login, it begins logging in but then fails and bounces back to the login screen. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?
I’ve had a local tech look at it and he tried several things, safe mode, ctrl R, and a disk check. I was going to reload the OS but Lion is not currently available online and I do not have a disk.

We understand that you'll enter in your password for your user on your MacBook Air, which starts to look like its logging you in, but then you see the login screen again. This happens even after taking multiple steps with your MacBook Air. If the password being entered is correct, are there other users available for your MacBook Air (including the guest user)? If yes, are you able to log into those users?

Thank you for letting us know. You can also see if you're able to run a diagnostics on your MacBook Air. You might not be able to since the age and OS X it's running, but you can still attempt it if you'd like: Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac
If you're still unable to login regularly or with safe mode, there might be an underlaying hardware issue or software issues causing this. Reinstalling OS X would be the best next step to help determine that. We understand that you no longer have the OS X Lion disk to reinstall it, but you may want to continue working with a technician to see if reinstalling OS X Lion is an option.

Additional info that might help, it’s an original MacBook Air and runs super slow after a short time. I often have to hard shut down and then power it back up. I’ve found Firefox hangs up often and I try to keep it closed when doing other work but I think it was open when I shut it down.
