iMessages arent loading

I dont know why my iMessages dont load after a certain date, they keep on vanishing slowly and slowly. Is there a way where messages dont automatically delete after a while? thanks

Have you checked Settings/Messages/Message History/Keep Messages to see how long Messages are supposed to be retained?
