Ipad shows up in sidebar on MacBook Pro but not available

When I plug the iPad Pro into the MacBook it shows up in the side bar but when I click on it I see the "trust" button for about second and then it disappears. I also notice that the battery icon on the iPad constantly changes between charging and not charging. What the heck is going on? I'm trying to update the software via the MacBook because "Media" and "other" have eaten up all of my space and I cannot find what that is exactly. Thanks in advance.

Hey there asand211,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having some issues using Sidecar and charging your iPad through your Mac. We're happy to provide some assistance.

It sounds like there is a connection issue since Sidecar will appear and disappear on top of the iPad charging intermittently. If that is the case, you might want to try a different cable and USB port on your Mac. If the issue continues, try further isolating the issue by connecting different devices to the same Mac or connecting the iPad to a different Mac.

Restarting your devices may also help:

Log out, sleep, wake, restart, or shut down your Mac

Restart your iPad

Keep us posted.

Have a great day!
