Why is my SD card reader is not showing up in Disk Utility?

I am new to the MacBook world, with the MacBook Air with M1 chip. I've purchased the USB adapter from Apple. when I plug in the card & card reader to the MacBook it does not recognised it being there, so I cannot format the disk to be able to return it to my cars dash-cam. Can anyone offer any advice please?

When I read from or write to my card (Emtec microSDXC 64GB Class10 Speed 64GB) using an external 3rd party USB card reader, everything works fine. However, when I use the same card with my MacBooks internal card reader, it takes the OS minutes to mount the card, and then it can't read from it. Writing seems to work, albeit very slowly. I already tried: using different microSD to SD adapters formatting the card (low level also) formatting it with different file systems (ExFAT, HFS+, FAT), to no avail. Is there anything els I could try, or is this MacBooks internal slot somehow limited? thanks, geb

sd card reader I have a MacBook Pro Touch Bar and as you all know it lacks sd card slots, so I bought an adaptor with USB ports and a card reader and it works just fine for the USB part, however computer would not read the sd card and I can't find the answer on the internet, so how do I get this type of MacBook to open the sd card?

SD card not working on Macbook pro Hi all, I have a early 2011 Macbook pro, tried my sons sd card and it doesn't work. It works on my son's mbp . We are both running High Sierra. I looked in the system report and the card reader shows in there just won't mount the sd card. As I said the card works on my son's MBP. Can anyone help with this please? TIA

If you’ve not already tried this, maybe the Show All Devices in Disk Utility?
