Hi,

I had the same issue with “podcast”.

My solution was to retired

« Apple podcast » for the moment and I downloaded «Overcast» to listen to my podcast. So if Apple does resolve the battery drain problem in a future iOS I’ll go back to it if they don’t I can still listen to my podcast.

Like I said not a permanent solution but enough to only charge my phone every 24 hours.

Good luck !

For me, this issue was caused by both the Music app and Exposure Notifications. Disabling Exposure Notifications was simple enough, but for the Music app, it turned out to be caused by “Automatic Downloads,” which ran the Music app up to 59 minutes per hour in the background.

Recently however, even switching Automatic Downloads off doesn’t seem to complete eliminate the issue. Sometimes Music will behave for an entire day or even a week, then suddenly start running 50+ minutes per hour in the background, draining my battery very quickly throughout the day.

There appears to be a bug with the “Download in Dolby Atmos” toggle, which may screw up the Automatic Downloads toggle. If you mess around with “Download in Dolby Atmos,” you’ll occasionally notice that toggling that switch will occasionally change the state of the “Automatic Downloads.” There must be a link between the two that’s causing Automatic Downloads to be enabled even when the switch is disabled.

So now I am totally confuddled. The battery drain on my iPad, which as I have noted in previous posts, had gone from normal life (significantly over a day) to less than 6 hours with the advent of 14.6; suddenly last weekend returned to normal. Nothing obvious changed, or was changed, other than the charge life. I am grateful, but don’t know what happened.

Now this week, my iPhone began exhibiting the exact same symptoms. It stays hot much of the time; won’t charge above 77%; and has very limited charge life.

Can anyone explain?

Every since iOS14.6, I also faced this issue, caused by App Store, especially noticeable during the night: battery drain between 50% and 75% in 8hrs from a fully charged battery.

I've tried everything possible: unpair/pair Apple Watch 1, reset my phone Xs to factory setting and reinstall everything from a backup made last April (yes, I did loose quite some data in the process!!!), remove any app from the phone that was no longer supported in iOS14, disable 'Background App Refresh', etc.. but nothing worked. My only option to prevent this was to disable 4G and WiFi from my phone during the night.

But finally yesterday, iOS14.7 was released and this morning, although I kept my phone connected to internet through the night, I was happily surprised to see that my battery consumption was back to normal!!!!

What happened to Apple's high quality products??? I'm willing to continue paying the price but it has to be worth it!!!

I really hope this is the first and last time I have to go through that after an iOS update!!! Else I will have to seriously reconsider how I spend my money!!!
