Airpods pro delayed connection with iPhone when iPad is near.

I have noticed that when I am connected to my Airpods pro with my iPhone there is no issue. But as soon as I am near my iPad which uses the same icloud account and has the same connections then the problems do not seem to end. I had both devices bluetooth connection to Airpods switched to “Automatically” but when I wanted to place a call from my iPhone there was a delay of 7-10 seconds before hearing the other side of the call.

So I switched the iPhone Airpods bluetooth settings to “When Last Connected to this iPhone” and the problem stopped for a few days. However today it reappeared. It seems that the iPad has always a priority in handling an incoming call through the Airpods pro connection, although I am answering the call from my iphone! If I turn the iPad off then the problem stops and does not exist anymore. If I turn it back on then it happens again. It’s obvious that the whole switching devices capacity of the iOS does not work properly.

I also made another test: Both devices either on or in standby mode with their screens off. No calls. No music or any other sound from both devices. As soon as I wear the Airpods, they always connect with the iPad. Always.

Does anyone else have the same problem? Any ideas how to fix it?
