Why does iMessage delete on theyre own before opening them?

has anyone had this problem When texting somebody with another iPhone and the iMessages delete out of no where before reading? I’m not sure what’s been going on with my IPhone X or if I need to turn off something?

Can't delete text message on iPhone XR, iOS 16.0.2 Iphone XR iOS 16.0.2 I have one SMS in my messages that I cannot delete. I press hard on it, then press "delete" and the SMS pops back in the list. I can delete other messages, but this single one stays. I have restarted my iPhone, nothing changes. Anybody else experiences this?
