In iPhoto it really doesn't matter until you decide to export it. Then you can have several different files sizes, depending on the export setting you choose.

Can you explain why you need the information? Perhaps we might be able to point you in a more useful direction.

In Photos or iPhoto, you can use the info inspector to see the number of pixels.
