We created several Apple IDs outside of Apple Business Manager for our staff.
I'd like to start using Managed Apple IDs so I wanted to know if I can convert the current Apple IDs over to Managed Apple IDs or am I going to have to create new Managed Apple IDs for staff to sign into....which might require changing them completely....
You will need to create new ones. The prefix for them could be the same, but the suffix will ave to use one of the domains registered in the server for Managed IDs.
If those AppleIDs already fit that description, I am not sure they’ll be excepted as Managed IDs but you could try. If not, you could just change something in the prefix like adding a number at the end to make them “novel” IDs for registering as Managed IDs.
