WatchOS 7.5 battery drain

Anyone else having a horrible battery life on the latest watch update? I have the series 5 on watch OS 7.5. Since the update my watch won’t make it 16 hours.

Before the update, I would be able to go to bed with my watch at 100%, use it for sleep mode and wake up alarm. Exercise in the morning for 30 minutes and go on my day. At night I would still have 20-30% battery before charging it.

Doing the same routine, 2 days in a row my watch doesn't make it past lunch. I do not use the always on display function either.

Last night I reset my watch and restored from backup. Charged to 100%, went to bed wearing it, woke up this morning to 70%.

Hope a new update comes fast or wearing the watch is pointless with this terrible battery drain.

I’ve had the same issue.

After a week trying different routes, I’ve found what has worked and that is turning off the environmental sound measurements functionality in Privacy at least until Apple fixes the bug.

It looks like the functionality is running constantly in the back taking too much power, since the battery drains at a constant pace.

Hope it helps others!

Restarting helps for 1-2 cycles, but then the battery drain comes back. Last night, at midnight, I've stopped charging at 100%. During night (wearing the watch of course), having sleep mode active, the watch lost all the juice down to 13%. Series 6 from October 2020.

Battery health is also dropping. It was around 96 %, now it is at 93%. Thank you Apple!

Just for the record: today I had this issue for the first time. I did the update a week ago or so and was very surprised. Battery health is 87% which is not good for a watch that's not even 2 years old (S5-LTE).

No new app installed since then, only WatchOS 7.5 and using one of the new Pride watch faces with complications since then. Hope this will be fixed ASAP as the watch is unusable under this conditions.

WatchOS 7.5 is a pure and unquestioned NIGHTMARE! Since upgrading, my S6 LTE doesn't last a full day, which only starts at 7:30a. Before it, I would put it on charger at night around 10:30 and still have 30% left or more. Now, 4 hours later I have 68% and by 9pm it's near dead- 10% range. This is nuts.

It also takes FOREVER to charge now. My battery health is 100% capacity as this Series 6 is like 5 months old maybe. Apple please send a patch for 7.5. This is horrible. My wife and brother don't even make it to 4pm. WatchOS 7.5 is horrible. It feels like a BETA.

I am also experiencing a dramatic change in battery life after the 7.5 update.

Prior to the update I would typically have about 20% battery remaining when I put my watch on the recharge stand. I put my watch on the recharger every morning at the same time.

Nothing else has changed EXCEPT the installation of 7.5

Now I cannot make it to the same time as previous to the 7.5 update. About 3-4 hours before my prior routine the watch enters the battery red zone and alerts me.

Apple Watch 5 SS with cellular

Capacity 26.4 GB

Available 19.6 GB

My usage pattern has not changed. No new APPs have been installed.

I rarely use anything other than a few routine APPs. Weather, calendar reminders.

My primary need for an Apple Watch is fall detection. It doesn’t do that in the recharge cradle.

I'm wearing model 6 (bought in February 2021) running watchOS 7.5 (18T567). I've had the same battery drain issue and it is mind blowing. Look at the screenshot of battery performance in the past 24hrs. It was at 100% around midnight and by 4am it is down into the red (less than 20%?). I charged it this morning back to 100% by 8am and 4.5hrs later I'm back down into the low 30% range and going fast.

My apple 6 watch purchase last November now cannot hold a charge for more than 6 hours. Interestingly I went to Texas last Wednesday (I live in NJ) the day I left NJ the watch went from 100% to 35% in 3 hours. Once in Texas for 6 days I was able to use the watch for 12-14 hours and watch would last and be at 45%. Now I am back in NJ and the first day back watch lost all battery power after 6 hours. I called support and they told me to turn wake screen on wrist move off and also to turn off Continuity. Did both, battery charged to 100% at 5 am, by 10 am at 35%, dead by 11:30 am.

I have had the same problem. Tried everything. Turned off notifications, paired restored from backup and now set-up as a new watch. This is a new Apple Watch 6, less than a year old.

used to easily get through the day no matter what I did.

now I have to charge at least once to make it through.

my wife’s battery on a series 4 has also seriously deteriorated. Many days she can’t make it through either.

this is after the 7.4/7.5 updates.

AppleCare said it’s normal. It’s not normal!

I sent my watch to Apple, they sent it back with a note explaining that the battery was fine.

I paired the watch to my phone, and I only installed apps which were frequently used.

The first 24 hours the watch was fine,

I expect the Watch to stay powered on for 24 hours unless there is significant use of Cell Phone, GPS, and such.

Then, after one day with no problems, sharp battery drain occurred again.

Last night I charged the watch before going to bed. When I woke up, the battery charge level was at 6%!

The steep drop off happened when I was in bed, and presumably the Apple Watch was only recording vital signs while sleeping. The unexpected, rapid power drain is very disappointing.
