I found the same problem as @pinky277, and I updated my version to 10.2.4(6), the current latest version, and after that, I had no problems using my VPN again.

Here's some food for thought: unless you're using a true VPN tunnel, such as between you and your employer's or bank's servers, they are useless from a privacy standpoint: Public VPN's are anything but private.
I have to agree with kaufman87. Public VPNs are false security. However, if you're using it to access websites in another country that you couldn't ordinarily get to otherwise that's a different situation. But for general use I agree with rkaufmann87.
The reasons for using VPNs (be they simple clients wrapped around OpenVPN, or more sophisticated setups) are manifold, and the question had nothing to do with how safe/secure/anonymous/duped a user of a VPN service should feel.

It is not a good idea to assist users in doing something that could put their data/security at risk. Public VPN services do just that and in addition some sell user data. The best advice is to not use a public VPN.
There are, I'm sure, both good and bad public VPN services out there. Stating that all of them are bad is most likely not accurate, and they DO provide a service that many people use and appreciate, even if you don't.
First it is completely unnecessary to use a VPN, if you employer demands you one then they should be supply it to you. Please uninstall the VPN and enjoy your computer.
+1 on BobTheFisherman's wise advice.
Another strong +1
