Screen frozen on apple logo- not enough storage to update

This morning I powered off my phone to power it on again because it was being a little slow and needed a restart. Once I tried to turn it back on, my screen was frozen with the apple logo on the screen.

I did some research, and I connected my phone to my laptop to enter recovery mode. I tried to update my phone, but it says that I do not have sufficient storage to do so. I don't know what to do. I really don't want to do a factory reset and erase everything on my phone. Please help!

Hello,

Start here:

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won‘t turn on or is frozen

If you can get it going, see this to free up some storage:

How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

If you have to do a factory reset, you can restore from a backup:

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

Locate backups of your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Good luck.
