Hi Dear iOS 14.6 Team,

I updated my iPhone 6s yesterday to the latest version and find auto brightness feature is a thing of the past or no longer a feature of iPhone 6s ??

I would like to ask, demand, beg,

  1. when can this be fixed?
  2. is this a trick to get people to Chuck away their old devices like iPhone 6s?

awaiting a quick and permanent fix soon

Thanks,

SSR

ssravjee,

Is that option greyed out in your Settings, or is your iPhone just not adjusting the brightness automatically while that setting is enabled?

Does the screen brightness change when you adjust it manually using the Control Center?

Does this occur in multiple lightning conditions?

Also, do you use a case with your iPhone? If so, does that persist if you temporarily remove your case? That should help rule out any possible conflicts with the ambient light sensor being covered unintentionally.

Cheers.

Hello ssravjee,

Thanks for reaching out through the Apple Support Communities about that situation with the Auto-Brightness feature on your iPhone 6s.

To clarify, is the brightness of your screen no longer adjusting automatically, or is that option not showing up under the Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size menu?

Also, have you had the chance to restart your iPhone since you noticed this behavior?

Those details should help to further isolate and address this behavior.

Take care.

Thanks FuchsiaBttrfli.

Yes, that's a workaround, isn't it.

We have managed to find that option, by trial-and-error.

Plus, now in iOS hardware/software tradition, older versions like iPhone 6s family started loosing network connectivity with wifi, slow loading of emails and not playing well with smart devices like bluetooth, Google Nest is at play.

Just be aware to upgrade soon, as these products will be made obsolete this year one way or another, looking at the way these products are throttled even with new batteries in place.

Cheers,

SSR
