Macbook Pro (2018) won't charge with 110v (been using 220v)

Hi everyone

I brought my MacBook Pro (2018) from Switzerland (Europe) to Latin America (Costa Rica, later Colombia).

I was aware that in the US and Latin America you have a 110V Output instead of 220v but I was told that it is supposed to work anyway, so I just brought a plug converter along.

Now when I try to work, the battery runs down even though my MacBook is plugged in the socket. But there is a plug-icon showing on the battery symbol though.

It is taking a whole night to charge my Macbook. This is of course very inconvenient for me with my work. 😄 I'm not an electrician and I'm sorry for asking such a stupid question, but I really would need your help on that.

Thank you so much!

You're right from the beginning, it should be able to charge your Mac with no problems since the power brick works in both voltages.

Connect the power brick and try resetting SMC and NVRAM

Check if it changes anything.

Try to test with another power brick. Maybe take it to an Authorized service provider or to someone you know that has a MacBook Pro with USB-C and cross check your Mac and power brick with theirs (better to an Authorized so you won't put your acquaintance's Mac at rick if something's wrong with your power brick).
