Audio cuts out with screen switch

WHY does my audio cut out if I switch screens or shut the display off?? It’s inconsistent, I’m trying to figure out when/why but so far haven’t picked up a pattern. I’m trying to listen to a game on MLB AtBat app; there’s no need to stay on that screen to just listen, but if I look at a text, check the weather site, or do ANYTHING off that screen, the audio stops. It seems mostly to be with MLB or with podcasts, and also happens when the screen goes dark or if I click the button to shut off display. It NEVER used to do this - I’ve been listening to MLB and podcasts for years. I have iOS 14.4.2. Help!!! This is THE MOST FRUSTRATING THING EVER!!!!

Hi Wclark21,

We appreciate you reaching out to us. Rest assured that we'll do our best to assist you or get you pointed in the right direction.

We understand that your device's audio will cut off when switching to a different app or placing the screen to sleep.

We recommend updating your iPhone if you haven’t. While it isn't inherently assured that an update will resolve the issue, updating to the latest version of iOS for your device can help isolate potential software issues. Kindly secure a backup and update.

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Also, are you experiencing the issue when using an external audio output device? For example, Bluetooth headphones or speakers?

Please keep us posted.

Take care!
