Creating custom ringtone from Big Sur to iPhone 12. How?

I can create a 30 second or shorter file, convert to AAC, amend suffix to ".m4r" and move it to my iPhone where it shows up in Music but not under Ringtones. Also, I do not see an option called "tone". Help?

It worked! I transferred the file from the iMac> GarageBand into iCloud and just followed the steps slowly. It may not be as simple as changing the suffix and plugging in the phone, but I can get over that and dive into the program. Suddenly seems simple. Thank you very much!!
