Iphone 7 Microphone not working, iOS 14.6

I hope this ends this discussion, but since you asked: “Not a real statistics buff are you?” I’m not sure that’s anything but an insult.

As a retired scientist who wrote publications using statistics to strengthen an argument, I’m pretty well aware of statistics. You just tossed your comment/question out without any facts in this area. In the future, you might want to not speak about topics that you have no knowledge on (my familiarity with statistics) and which are irrelevant to the topic (14.6 & the loss of mic functionality).

Otherwise, I will say that you are familiar with the topic, but only added opinions and not scientifically tested hypotheses.

I have the same issue. Iphone 7 plus. I recently updated my phone to 14.6.. When in a call I cannot hear anyone and no one can hear me. I can’t record video or take photos. If I restart the phone it works and then goes back to not working again. Bluetooth through car worked today. Apple needs to address this now KNOWN issue.

For them to do this you will have to contact APPLE, no management is here. And what is known about it? That 14.1, 14.2, 14.3, 14.4, 14.5, 14.6 and all the ones in between somehow broke the hardware? My 7 Plus didn't wait for an update, it just failed on its own.

I have the same problem since IOS 14.6 upgrade and just got back from Genius Bar who told me exactly the same sentences than what you wrote. Looks like they are trained to tell the same non sense talk to everyone. The worst thing is that they are pretty aware of this problem but persist to say it is not coming from iOS 14.6 whereas most of the customers tell them that the problem actually happened after the upgrade.

I also have this issue, I finally updated my iphone 7 and just like you say after the update the mic didn't work at all, I checked everything so I contacted apple support and did all the steps but nothing worked... the funny thing is that aparently my mic doesn't work but I get adversiting based on the things I talk to other people and no, I haven't search for it nor have another device with my accounts linked near me. Did you find any solution?

Assuming the mic chip has a microprocessor in it then the software update could potentially increase the computational load and the chip could overheat. Apple needs to address this issue. Many of is are seeing the same issues. A software update should not drive you to have to buy a new phone.

The biggest issues I have seen with the iPhone 11 and 14.6 is battery recalibration. Is there some long thread regarding audio failures (it isn’t just the microphone) that you can post? And how many users would that be?

Deggie - Such a coincidence all these people are suddenly having speaker issues with their iPhone 7 after update. Sadly they aren’t fixing it and these level 10 support people say the same things over and over.

Yes, the same what happened to me.

Apple should have Option for downgrading if something’s goes wrong from updating new iOS.

I also have problem about Video not working on any Web Browser specially Safari.

Apple will only answer to you is;

1.—Update to a latest iOS, Reset all settings, Reboot.

2.—Buy a new Phone.

but i solved the problem for Video issue on the Web.

but microphone i still couldn’t fix.

only thing maybe is to downgrade iOS.

i too experienced microphone issue after iOS upgrade to 14.6 in iphone6s so my mic is not working even after basic troubleshooting steps.

Wow, the Geniuses must just search threads. Nothing genius about that. Sounds like an easy job. Ha.

I’ve restarting mine like 7 times and still not working, i can’t even use the headphones, I don’t know what else can I do, I need my phone and can afford a new one right now

If anyone finds a solution to this please let me know as this is annoying. Not being able to record videos with sound, use Siri or do voice memos is seriously annoying.

Same thing is happening to our phone too...
