Getting error message ''Your Mac was unable to communicate with your AppleWatch' when I try to pair Apple watch to MacBook pro.

Yes, the Watch pairs with my iphoneX.
I am trying to pair my Apple watch with my Macbook pro so as to unlock Macbook with Apple watch.
But while enabling, I am getting the error ''Your Mac was unable to communicate with your AppleWatch' .
When i tried to logout and login again of my Apple id on Macbook, I am not able to see the option ”Allow your Apple Watch to unlock your Mac” under Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Security & Privacy.
Could you please help here?
