iMac doesn't turn on after it has been moved

Good follow up old friend.

I recently had two panic calls, one last week from my brother in-law and one this week from my son in-law. In both cases, they had either cleaned or rearrange their desks and in both cases the cord had become partially unplugged from the back of the iMac. Ironically my brother in-law tried blaming his wife and my son in-law tried to blaming the grandkids.

LOL, glad it was so simple.

Last week we went out and bought the top of the line Traeger Smoker, these things need to be plugged in power. A couple of days after getting it my wife comes to me upset to let me know she has a call into Traeger because the thing wouldn't power on. 2 minutes later I discovered the problem, I'm sure you can figure out what it was.

If that iMac is on the order of ten years old, its internal parameter RAM battery is almost certainly dead. As long as you leave it connected to power it will be fine, but you might want to have that battery replaced.

Replacement is very easy.

The battery will become prematurely depleted if one is in the habit of using a power strip or otherwise routinely removes power from a desktop Mac, because it is only used when there is no ac power available. It's one of those penny wise pound foolish things. But, it's easily and inexpensively replaced when needed.

Double check, to make sure that the power cord is still firmly plugged into the back of the iMac.

Yea' some family matters, are best kept in the family. I started calling our oldest grandson, when my wife is having a Mac moment.
