Is it normal that I can't use brushes in Photoshop with a Mac mini?

I bought a Mac mini 3.2 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7, 64GB RAM, 1To SSD and I am unable to draw a simple line with a brush in Photoshop without having to wait one second to see the line appears.

Is it normal?

I know the Mac mini doesn't have a proper GPU but wow... that is really bad. Even my old MacBook Pro 15-Inch Core i7 2.3 Mid-2012 was better than that.

I'm wondering if I would have to buy an eGPU only for that.

Thank you in advance!

Mac mini, macOS 11.3

Photoshop favored the discrete NVIDIA GeForce GT650M GPU in that old MBP, and the integrated Intel UHD-630 graphics in the mini that shares RAM with the system may represent a compromise for Photoshop's GPU support. Poor or lacking GPU support may impact smooth brush activity. Verify beforehand any eGPU support for the version of macOS that you have installed, or plan to install — before you purchase.

The current version of Photoshop 2021 for macOS is 22.4.1. Consider this version of Photoshop and updating macOS to 11.4 if not done already.

If those brushes are from a third-party Photoshop package, are there newer updates available?

If you are running any anti-virus or so-called "cleaner" software, it will undoubtedly have an impact on your application compatibility and the performance of the operating system. I recommend completely removing said software entirely.
