I deleted bootcamp because I don't need it anymore. I then tried to delete the partition through bootcamp assistant but it wouldn't let me so I deleted it manually through terminal. Now I can't figure out how to recover the storage space bootcamp took up. It's just gone; nowhere to be found.

Run
diskutil apfs resizeContainer disk1 0g
and post the output.
I ended up just backing up and factory resetting my mac. Much more tedious and time consuming, but it worked. I didnt imagine I'd get a response so quickly. Thank you for responding though.

Excellent! Good to see you have disk space back.
Backup/restore is useful if the disk layout becomes non-standard and simple expansion is not possible.
