Selective Colour limitations!

Dear All, am looking to try to change the colour of one item in a photo - its a seat cover I hope to reupholster to a different colour, so want to see what it might look like. If I use the Selective Colour tool in Photos, I'm listed to the hue range in terms of colour. So eg if my original seat is brown, the Hue slider allows me to vary that only from pink to green. Is there a way of being able to select for example a blue or a red? If thats best done with other software, any hints would be much appreciated!

You'll need a 3rd party image editor like Photoshop Elements for Mac, Affinity Photos or GraphicConverter, where you can select the area you want to change, and apply via the paint brush or bucket any color you'd like. When I had a full Photoshop editor (not the Element version) there was an option to select a color in the picture and replace it with another color. Haven't had time to check that feature out in the current image editors I use.

You might start with GraphicConverter as it has a demo mode you can use before purchasing. Then demo mode delays opening for a number of seconds but otherwise is fully useable.

Hey Superfly7,

Thanks for posting your question in Apple Support Communities!

In order to change that photo to a different color you may have to arrange the hue and warmth tools in order to find the desired shade. If that doesn't produce the product you are looking for you may want to consider using a more advanced photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom.

Best Wishes.
