Thank you for the reply Studiodave56!
Since the issue persists and there are no error message, let's try importing a single song. If you are unable to import a single song, let's see if the issue persist in safe mode to help isolate the issue:

If the issue persists, are you getting any sort of error message? If so, what do those error messages say exactly? If you try importing one item, does that work? This will help us isolate the issue.
We hope this helps.
Have a great day!
Is this an already existing iTunes library or is this just
music in a folder?
If it is an iTunes library, copy the entire iTunes folder to
your Mac. If there is not enough room, you can still have the
iTunes library on an external drive. To access the old iTunes
library, wherever it may be, hold down the shift key when
opening Music. It should present you with a dialog box
and choose the existing library option. Then navigate
to your iTunes folder in the subsequent dialog box.
If there is not enough room for your iTunes library on the new Mac
you have the following options:
-remove as much data to an external drive from your user folder
as possible to try and make enough room.
-live with having your iTunes library on an external drive
-Or, if the majority of your iTunes library has been purchased from
the iTunes Store, you could just download a "subset' of your purchases
and just add and remove as your mood changes.
Thanks but this is not the problem, I had 1.9 tb free space, no error messages,
