Why doesn't my iMac (macOS Big Sur 11.2.3) recognize Panasonic HC-W580? I've tried everything.

Thanks. I disconnected everything else and plugged it directly in the USB port on the back of the computer. In the end, I just changed the cable (which was new) and it works. I guess that's starting with the basics.

Great to know. You should also consider the possibility that the USB port on the back of your Mac might also be faulty. It's possible your new cable could be faulty, but to make sure try that cable on another port and see if it works. It's just one last bit of troubleshooting.
Either way, glad you're up and running.
Start with the basics. Remove the USB hub from the equation. Can you plug your camera directly from the back of your iMac to your camera? Disconnect everything else from your iMac.
It will save a lot of time for you and everyone else if you tell us what exactly the 'everything' you tried actually is? hat way we won't make suggestions you already have done and failed with.

Switch it on. Connect to the computer usb. To an external USB. Switch it off then on again. Not sure what else I can do.
I wonder if posting a video of the process might help.
MIght it have something to do with a recent update from High Sierra to Big Sur? It used to work with High Sierra.
Have you thought about just inserting the memory card into the slot on your iMac?
