Apple Pencil issues with tilt detection

iPad 2021 12.9”

Apple Pencil 2nd gen

Problem: In at least two drawing apps I’ve noticed an issue where after using the pencil tilted, then lifting and using it untilted, it thinks it’s still tilted for a little bit, which means it’s drawing large brush size when it shouldn’t be. It seems like I need to move the pencil far enough away (draw on another part of the screen) for it to stop happening. Like it’s localised. The two apps I’ve noticed this in are Procreate and Sketchbook. I couldn’t replicate in Notes using the highlighter.

I was also able to replicate this on a friends 2020 iPad Pro 12.9” in Sketchbook. And I did find a couple of forum posts that described something that sounded like this. So I don’t believe it’s a hardware defect.

Here are two videos showing the issue.

Can anyone else replicate this?

iPad Pro, iPadOS 14
