Podcasts unavailable in IOS 14.6 and macOS 11.4

Since updating my Mac to 11.4 and phone to 14.6 last week, many podcasts are not updating recent shows correctly. I heard there were issues with 14.5 but hadn't upgraded to that so unclear if this is related. The issue is inconsistent across different podcasts, and doesn't seem to be tied to publisher (eg. some NPR shows are available as always, some are several days behind, some haven't updated since the upgrade). The Mac app seems to be having a bigger issue than the IOS, but it's all over the place. Checked back on publishers sites and on older iPad (IOS 12.5) and the shows are available. Shows that put out new episodes more frequently seem to be having a bigger problem but, again, no consistent pattern that I can see.

Alternate podcast players (eg Spotify) are not having any issues finding the shows.

The Apple iOS Podcast Server being updated with new episode four shows and your iOS podcast app downloading new episodes are two separate issues, both of which have been bugged beginning with the iOS 14.5 Podcasts app upgrade.

You can you check to see if the Apple iOS Podcast Server is receiving new episodes by searching for the Show and seeing if the new episodes are listed.

If new episodes appear on the Server, but not on your Podcasts app in the Show list, check the Show settings.

The pic below shows the Podcasts app settings at iPhone Settings>Podcasts (left frame), the Station settings (middle) and the Show settings (right) in the image below. Check the blue arrows which cause Shows to be updated automatically and permit you to limit new episodes. Also note the blue circles that hide played episodes and remove played downloads.
