With update to iOS 14.6 Face Recognition has stopped working, WHY???? Seems to happen with every other update.

I spoke to a friend of mine who owns a repair shop. He said that the dot projector(one of the things in the chin that is responsible for Face ID) might be broken. A quick test to check if the dot projector has malfunctioned is to open camera, switch to portrait mode with the selfie camera, then if the camera app says "Move further away" and the effect's name(for example NATURAL LIGHT) stays gray instead of yellow this is a 100% sign that the dot projector is broken and the phone needs to be serviced.

With my iPhone 12 this is the case...The camera app also cannot detect my face and apply the Portrait mode filters.

I'm facing this same issue from last 2 years with my iPhone XR. If we contact apple support they say their is hardware issue it's not a bug. Last year they fix this issue in IOS 13.7. after that face ID was working fine till 14.6 update. Why they introduce same bug in every release after sometime. Face ID is a one of the main selling feature for apple and if that not working than please give us money back so we can switch to Google Pixel those don't have this kind of gimmick feature those work sometimes and stop working after couple of release.

I have the same question. After I updated my iPhone 10 to 14.6 facial recognition stopped working.

I have the same problem Face ID stopped working, went to resetting s and clicked reset and now I get a message saying Face ID not available try again.

I’m having the same issue too. My Face ID just stop working. I do believe it’s a bug. I’ve tried everything and nothing seems to work. FIX IT APPLE!!!

Same boat. Update, things start on the fritz, complete failure. Go through the steps and nada. And now I can’t set up a new face. I too am caught in the up-down loop.
