iPhone X battery drain after replacing battery last week

iPhoneX battery began to drain very quickly April or May 2021. IOS 14.6

I replaced it at Apple Store at the end of May. Still draining too quickly.

Visited Apple Store a few days later. Apple blamed Norton.

Contacted Norton who advised their app may run in background but should not cause drain.

Have trouble shot (too many apps using locations, etc.) but still won't hold a charge the full day.

I'm a moderate user. Upcoming travel is worrisome as that will be heavy usage.

Any suggestions?

Hi Upscalemomma,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities! We appreciate you reaching out for help with the battery performance of your iPhone X after having it replaced. We're certainly glad to look into this with you. We want you to have long-lasting and reliable battery life.

Since battery performance can be highly variable based on a number of factors, let's ensure we understand exactly what's going on. How long would you estimate your device lasts on a full charge before it's totally depleted? Have you noticed if the battery drains faster when using your iPhone in certain locations, or when using certain apps?

You can view a graph of recent battery performance for the Last 24 Hours under Settings > Battery. This graph can be used to analyze how long your device goes in between charges, and if there is corresponding device activity that explains more sudden drops in charge level. You can even tap right on the graph to determine which apps were using the most energy at any given hour.

You had not said that your Norton was a Password Manager. You obviously need to keep that. I automatically think anti-virus software when Norton is mentioned. I see nothing in your useage that would suggest that your battery usage is anything beyond normal. You have used the phone for more than 5 hours which I would consider pretty heavy usage. That kind of usage is going to require quite a bit of battery power. I just don't see any problem. I have a 12 Mini and it is a battery eater, as it has a small battery to fit its small dimensions. My usage is much less than yours so I really can't advise you on switching to a 12. I don't think you have a problem. You use the phone a lot and that usage requires battery power. I think you should quit worrying about it, enjoy your phone and charge when necessary.

Thank you for your response. Two visits last week to the Apple Storr educated me in battery usage. What concerns me is there has not been a use change on my use but a huge change in battery life. I charge my phone every night for the “optimum battery charge” per Apple standards. By 8-9.pm the next day, my phone prompts “low battery” showing a charge down to 20%. So I need to charge again earlier and earlier. First quarter this year, my phone seemed to hold a full charge for the whole day until midnight. Apple Store did verify that the new battery is showing full charge but, again, is not holding a charge.

I thought an upgrade to iPhone 12 is an option but am I just moving this problem to a newer phone?

I deleted Norton after contacting them and being assured that their background usage is minimal. (“A common concern by our ‘beloved’ customers” I was told.

After one day, I reinstalled as the Norton generated passwords were missing. I have since installed Norton Password manager to compensate if I re-delete it. Which sounds smart per your recommendation.

Today screen time is 5hr 3 min total and battery is at 49%. That just seems low to me.

Biggest use; Gmail 57 min screen 6m bkgrnd. 29%

Google 19/1 13%

Messages 25/3. 11%

All else less than 5%

what’s your Rec to upgrade to iPhone 12?

will I have similar problem ad I bring over my apps?
