Activity calories burned seem too low

Love my watch, but I am always wondering why my active calories for Different activities seems much lower than I would expect for my level of intensity. Today I did one hour at 15° incline on a treadmill and it registered 600+ calories while my watch on the hiking activity registered less than 200. This enormous discrepancy blew my mind… My watch is on tight so I’m not sure why it’s registering such a low amount of calories.

Hey there, and welcome to Apple Support Communities, JenArr.

We see that you've got some questions about how your Apple Watch tracks calories. We'll be happy to look into what's going on.

To get started, we'd recommend following the info in Calibrating your Apple Watch for improved Workout and Activity accuracy and Get the most accurate measurements using your Apple Watch to make sure that your Apple Watch is tracking your workouts correctly. Also, keep in mind that different devices and applications may also track and calculate that data differently.

We hope this information helps.

Cheers.
