Macbook Air M1 cursor jumps to lower left of screen and sticks..

Greetings,

I have been experiencing an issue where my mouse cursor (external or trackpad) will jump to the lower left of the screen. While it is here I can move it out a bit and then it jumps right back to the corner. After about 10-15 seconds it finally releases and I can use the mouse for a bit before it happens again. I have done a clean install of the OS (11.4) and it seemed to have resolved it for a few days before returning. This behavior happens with apps open or closed.

Any help would be appreciated!

Greetings.. It appears I have found the problem to be caused by Microsoft Outlook. When I open Outlook the problem starts, if I close it out, it still jumps/sticks to the lower left corner. If I restart and do not open Outlook the issue does not come back. Been several days now and all is good, just using webmail.

Thanks!

Hi the_palmers

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

We see that you have an issue with the mouse cursor jumping on the screen on your MacBook Air. We want to help. To make sure that we understand completely, does this issue happen when you are using any particular apps? If so, have you tried updating those apps?

Also, does the issue happen in another user? If the issue happens in another user account, test in safe mode.  Here’s how to How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Here are a few quick notes about safe mode:

- Safe mode often looks and responds a bit different than what you're used to.

- Safe mode does not load everything that normally loads during a regular startup.

- Safe mode is a bit slower while loading and during normal operation as well.

- These differences can be cleared-up by a normal restart.

Test to see the issue happens in safe mode. Restart and test again in typical mode. Just booting into safe mode in and of itself can resolve some issues.

Best Wishes!
