Suddenly missing burned CDs from iPhone iTunes

Also my iphone can no longer sync with my destop itunes (i cannot update computer’s itunes any further) And recently all CDs i had in itunes on iphone are GONE. Most of these CDs have been there since 2007!

Can i find the vanished CD music? Especially if I cannot have phone and computer sync?

I have done internet search couple of times and via apple….. I see others have had similar problems but seems often it’s when they have a computer crash o get new device.

I used my iTunes ALL the time, this makes me so sad. And to buy digital music to replace my CDs would be 100s of $$. :-(

appreciate any help.

(Warning: I am also not technically inclined)

Hello Lizzabeth0,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, you've lost your imported music in iTunes and can't sync your Mac. We'll do our best to assist with this.

If you can't locate your music in the iTunes app, then they still may be on the computer. See: Change where your music files are stored on Mac And hopefully section, 'Consolidate your files in the Music folder' will help you out.

You could also restore to a previous date/time using Time Machine, if you had it set up previous to this happening: Restore your Mac from a backup Keep in mind, that restoring to a previous time/date will revert everything, so anything saved between that date and now will be removed.

For syncing issues:

If you see error -5000, -69, 13010, or 13014 when you sync music from your Mac

If you see error -54 when you sync with your computer

If your computer doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod

Should it persist, please reply back with the following answers for more help:

  • What happens when you attempt to sync your iPhone to your Mac? Any errors?
  • Did you recently make any changes to your Mac? Updates, new software, etc.?
  • Do you have a backup of your music at any point? Using Time Machine or an external drive?

Wishing you the best, take care!

My desktop MAC seems cannot update any further. It’s Sierra10.13.6. ALL my digital purchased & burned from CD music IS in the computer iTunes.

My iPhone when connected to computer will no longer sync - it wants things upgraded but I do not think I can because computer is old. My phone does not even show up as a connected device as it once did.

so how do we get the iTunes library which is in the MAC available to the phone? Can we put files somewhere that can be accessed via the phone?

Ot the other tech responder listed a variety of other music storage/play programs/apps - can I copy my complete music library (on MAC) to one of these and then use it on my phone??

Dilemma is that I use my iPhone to play MY music all the time; in the car, via Bluetooth & Alexa in the house, directly from phone while running/walking. I’ve lost 100’s of songs and running playlist. :-/ I’m so sad.

took pic of what iTunes looks like on MAC - and drop down shows sync; backup are grayed out so not options. Phone was connecting when took photo but you can see it does not show in iTunes as connected device.

For iOS 14 you need iTunes 12.8.2.3 or better running on OS X 10.11.6 or better. See How to upgrade to OS X El Capitan - Apple Support if required.

Assuming a suitable version of iTunes is in place then in Finder use the menu item Go > Go to Folder..., copy the following text, paste it into the dialog box and press enter:

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/Current/Resources

Unlock your device and connect it to USB. Double click on MobileDeviceUpdater in the folder that has opened. It should notify you of a software update. Install it and iTunes should hopefully recognize your device.

If these steps haven't worked you can also try reinstalling iTunes12.8.2.3.dmg (El Capitan/Sierra) or iTunes12.8.3.1 (High Sierra) while your device is connected and unlocked.

Or see Move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Community to relocate the library.
