My Apple TV will not respond to program changes with my silver remote , suggestions?

Program changes referred to my Apple TV channels were frozen. I received another response from community, i.e. " holding menu and back arrow buttons fo 10 seconds". This reset my Apple TV. Thanks for wanting to help.
