I have a 2009 iMac running High Sierra 10.13.6. I have changed an account on my iMac from standard to admin and now wish to change it back to standard but the box I need to untick is greyed out. I've tried via the account I want to change and the original admin account but same story there. Any ideas would be great cause I'm tearing my hair out here! lol

I am familiar with Terminal, however, I would suggest following guidance from support.apple.com or youtube.com/applesupport. If you are unable to find a resolution, contact Apple Support for further assistance.
Thanks for that Sean. Sorry about late reply. Been manic here lol. So the suggestions you made I have tried and sadly they have not worked. I did read elsewhere something about using terminal to delete the account entirely and opt to keep the user library. Then set up the account again using that library. Do you know anything about this. Any thought on this please.
