Unable to download OS upgrades due to lack of storage

My MacBook air is running out of space and unable to download OS upgrades. What is the process of removing and transfer files to external storage to make room for upgrades?

What a user can do?


   1.  Delete files

  2.  Optimize storage

       Click the “Manage”button. Wait until Green “Completed” button appears.
