HI, I have set a password for my MacBook Pro. the password works to starts the laptop after shutting down or restart. but it doesn't work for authorisation to accept an update or install a new app. Pa

There are three levels of authentication, four in a corporate environment.

Your Mac login password is (and should be) separate from your Apple ID password (used to download apps and updates from the App Store).
If you forgot your Apple ID password, you can reset it here: https://iforgot.apple.com
