Has anyone else experienced this and how do I fix it?

I sent a very long text message in a group chat as a joke. The message was so long iMessage glitched and the app crashed. After it crashed it keeps trying to deliver the message and crashing in an endless loop. I can not stop it because all I see when entering the app is a black screen, is there anyway for me to fix this? It seems I’ve tried everything PLEASE HELP!!!!!

I had something similar happen. Someone sent me a text that reached the character limit. On my phone, the text shows as the first few hundred characters, then ... and then a > that looks like it should be clickable. I can't click into it, and I can't select it to delete it (going into the "more" to select messages to delete is just not responding). On my computer, Messages won't open. It gets stuck on a black screen then I get "app isn't responding" and have to force quit. Restarting the computer and phone did nothing.

Has anyone else experienced this and how do I fix it?
