messages app

so I tried to copy and paste the longest word in existence and send it to a group chat. it's almost 200,000 characters. I have no clue what I was thinking. but now I can't text anyone from the messages app. it opens but the screen is just frozen. there is an option in settings to delete the app, but I don't know if I want to do that. help, anyone?

You can’t delete the app, but you can force-close it→How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support. After force-closing the app, force-restart your phone:

  • Press and quickly release VOLUME UP

     then

  • Press and quickly release VOLUME DOWN

     then

  • Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears (15-30 seconds), ignoring "slide to power off" if it appears

The operative word here is QUICKLY; and try it a couple of times, the timing is a little tricky.
