Continue listening apple music between devices

Hello, I'm thinking to move to Apple Music but I see there is a really important feature that I can't make work.

During my day I move between Mac and iPhone really often, I'm listening whatever in my Mac/iPhone and then I move to my iPhone/Mac using airpods, I really enjoy that I can go from one device to another so smoothly but I noticed that when I'm in the middle of a song in my Mac I can't continue listening that song/playlist in my other directly. If I'm listing in my Mac, when I go to Apple Music in my iPhone, it's like nothing is being played in any other device so I can't continue playing the same song, and the same happens to the other side.

I'm able to do it in spotify so I guess this should exists in AM but I'm doing something wrong.

Is there something I didn't see? This is quite a deal-breaker to me.

Thanks!

It sounds like the feature called Handoff is what you're looking to use. Handoff allows you to pick back up with the same app that's being used on another device. This works with apps like Calendar, Safari, Contacts, and some third party apps. This is not available with Music, however.

That fact that Apple music doesn't have this feature as of today and after so long is an unfortunate let down and disappointment.

It would be nice to know if this feature is coming.

As a long time Apple user I assumed a seamless integration between all my Apple devices. A lot of us constantly walk away from our computers and use different devices and it would be nice to just... you know continue where one left off on a good playlist.

I can see the developer community is already trying to solve the problem:

Dear Apple resolve asap! Many thanks!

This is a basic functionality and it's very disappointing that is not already implemented.

It's like the developing team actually doesn't use Apple Music or they don't use more than one Apple device.

Also the link in this answer is not useful, since the function is not supported.

Kind Regards,

V.

I am in the process of testing Apple Music out, and this feature is one of the primary reasons I have a Spotify subscription. It would be extremely valuable to have this feature added. Not only does it allow someone to change from Desktop or Laptop (both Windows and Mac) and phone interchangeably, but you can also control Spotify with either device or the watch seamlessly. This means while riding my bike I can skip, pause or like a song from my watch without taking my phone out of my bag, or I can go from my desk to my car without having to go search up what I was last listening to.

Hello, thanks for the answer.

The problem is not with AirPods, I'm able to switch devices without any problem. The issue is only with Apple Music, if I'm listening a song in Apple Music in my Mac, I'm not able to stop it and continue listening in my iPhone. I have to search it and play it like if I was not listening in another device at all.

Let 's set an example:

I'm listening song named ASDF from Apple Music in my Macbook, I need to go somewhere so I would like to continue listening the same song and playlist I was listening but from my iPhone. When I go to my iPhone (with the song playing or stoped, in both cases I found the same issue), I'm not able to continue playing the song ASDF from the place where I left it in my Mac. I have to search the album or the song and play it from the beggining.

Let me know if it's clear now.

Thanks!!
