Help with spam email

I run my business email through apple mail and about once a year for the past couple of years, I get spammed in a major way. Like 2,000 spam emails roll through and I can't find a way to prevent this. Can be our server, but I'm getting no help other than change my email address, not practical. I need to find a way to prevent this on my own.

I pretty much figured out what you were saying and checked my preferences and changed them. No more should go into my in box, but I will still have to go through a hundred plus spam mails to make sure I don't miss a valid email. I would love a way to stop the 2,000 spam emails from coming to me period. But I don't think that exists.

By far the single best, one time purchase I ever made over ten years ago was SpamSieve. https://c-command.com/spamsieve/

Third party Spam filter— can sit client side or server side. I have only used it client side; my email provider (not Apple) uses GreyMail and I let it do the first round, and have the digest delivered to me for review if necessary.

SpamSieve always timely updates with each macOS, _excellent_ customer support.

Also, I mark them as junk, try blocking, but it all still goes through my inbox. It does not get directecd to the junk mail. Then I have to go through all the spam to look for my legitimate client emails. I have looked for spam blockers, but have not seen anything that appears to work well, esp for a mac. There must be away to eliminate these? I am desperate!

We definitely don't have anything installed on our server, and it seems since it has only happened to me, there is no desire to fix it. I just get that "ÿou must be going someplace that you shouldn't with your email"! Funny thing, I get no spam on my personal emails, only work, but I'm sure with Spam sieve, it will handle it and maybe the person that has been selling my email will get bored and use someone else in the office. My rant is done, sorry about that.

Spam is a fact of life, it is big business. I have never encountered SpamSieve on an email providers server, however there are many more industrial strength alternatives as a service to their paying clients, and really a courtesy of the provider—however there will always be limits. Spam is a constant... many server side filters reach back, one example: https://www.spamhaus.org/ Other examples: https://99firms.com/spam-filtering-companies/

Hard to believe there would be no server side filter of some sort, whether you have user access to it or not is a different question.

There is no downside to adding a client-side spam filter.

A shout out to Woz for introducing me to SpamSieve many years ago.

I totally agree with you, and I am extremely disappointed with the attitude, "I told you there is nothing I can do." I think it is only because it has only happened to me, and we changed my email to eliminate it once, but that hasn't worked. It never happened on our previous server, but guess they were trying to save money when moving to this server. I would think that the fact that someone all of a sudden got 1,750 or more spam emails all in one shot is worth doing something about. I will take care of it myself, and I have always found this to be a good place to find resolutions. I do thank you very much.

I really want to thank you again for telling me about spam sieve! I got it set up on my macbook pro, then it died along with my iPad pro, so I set it up on my mac mini and it is such a help. I still get at least 100-200 spam per day and have to go through them looking for legit email, but it is so much better than before. And if 2,000 come rolling in again, I'm hoping it will be a life saver then!
