no audio on Apple TV app on Google Chromecast

I have the Chromecast with Google TV and the audio on the Apple TV app has stopped working - video is fine, but no sound. I have tried re-setting it and uninstalling and re-installing, but no luck. I don't have an issue with any of the other apps on there, just Apple TV. The app works fine on my fine, but I can't cast to the TV.

Chromecast,

My first time on Communities but I had to reply because this issue really bugged me until I read the suggestion from MattBoxer.

I had this exact problem with the Apple TV app not having any audio when played through my Chromecast with sound through a bluetooth Jambox.

I went into Chromecast settings (click on profile) > Display and sound > Advanced sound settings > Select formats

and then select "None: Never use surround sound" and that fixed the problem.

That is, the sound started coming through the Jambox. I don't have a surround sound system, so if you wanted to use both (say if you wanted to use both surround sound and bluetooth headphones at different times) then that may be a problem? Maybe you'd have to switch surround sound back on when you wanted to use it.

Interestingly, the audio problem occurred when I tried to play my purchased series of the Sopranos, but not for other movies and things I had purchased on iTunes. For example, the Ken Burns Jazz series audio worked before I turned surround sound off. So maybe different programs have different audio settings?

Hello Emily_grub,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We are happy to help you!

We understand that the sound seems to not be working when you are playing a show/movie on Apple TV app.

Get the Apple TV app on your smart TV, streaming device, or game console

"Reset the Apple TV app to its original settings

This will sign you out of your account on that device and remove your personal information. If you're also signed in to the Apple Music app on your smart TV or streaming device, the Apple Music app will also be reset to its original settings and all of your personal information will be removed.

  1. On your smart TV, streaming device, or game console, open the Apple TV app or Apple Music app.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. On your smart TV or streaming device, choose "Reset Apple TV app and Apple Music," then confirm your choice. On your game console, choose "Reset Apple TV app."

Sign out of a smart TV, streaming device, or game console that you can't access

If you're signed in to the Apple TV app on a smart TV, streaming device, or game console that you can't access, you can remove the device from your account list."

We hope this finds you well!

Cheers!

Same issue. I've tried all the suggestions below and nothing has worked. I have Bluetooth sound with EVERYTHING but Apple TV. I'm truly frustrated to the brink with apple right now! $ days I've messed with this app. Uninstalled and reinstalled 6 times! I'm paying for this service and can't seem to enjoy it with any Bluetooth device. I'm about ready to sell all my apple devices.
