MacBook Time Machine System Restore

I'm attempting to restore my MacBook from a Time Machine Backup. I can boot into recovery mode, select Time Machine System Restore, select a restore source, select a specific backup, and then I arrive on the select a destination screen. I select Macintosh HD, click unlock, and type in the password for the drive. The system then does absolutely nothing and clicking unlock doesn't allow me to re-enter the password or progress any further. This occurs every time I enter recovery mode. Is there anyway to actually reach the stage where the point where the restore will begin?

System Information:

  • Laptop Type: Late 2013 with 15-inch retina
  • OS: macOS Big Sur 11.4
  • Processor: 2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
  • Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.4

How about restore to the Macintosh HD - Data ... Does it give you that choice(?)

From Recovery did you run the First Aid..

Boot into Internet Recovery (Option Command R) and from the dropdown menu: Utilities>  Disk Utility> run the First Aid on your Macintosh HD (and the "Macintosh HD-Data" volume as well if Catalina/Big Sur) If errors are found and repaired, run again until no errors reported.

Disk Utility>View>Show All Devices The best sequence is —

• Volume level

• Container level

• Parent drive
