Hello clarefromfaversham,

It would appear from your post that you are having some issue with Safari accessing web page via links.

The first thing we would recommend is to power cycle the devices. While simple, this can refresh the operating systems, apps and connections.

If the issue continues, isolating where the problem is happening would be the next steps.

On the iPhone, tap on Settings > Wi-Fi and toggle Wi-Fi off. This will force the device to use cellular data. Test and see if the same thing happens. If everything works as expected, then test on another Wi-Fi network. You may also want to restart the modem/router to see if that helps.

You can also clear the history and cookies from Safari. This can help by forcing Safari to reload the website: Clear the history and cookies from Safari on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Cheers.
