Apple Watch

I thinking about getting an Apple Watch and trying to choose between the series 3 and the SE, because I have to pay for it. The series 3 is what I'm leaning towards. My only question is with the cellular GPS. I know they both have the GPS, and that the series 3 can only make calls and texts when being in a close proximity to my phone, while the SE can make them wherever because of the cellular GPS. So I guess my question is if I get the series 3 and I leave my phone at home and I'm at a friends house on Wifi, would I be able to make texts and calls? (So is my phone that is needed or wifi for the Apple Watch series three to make calls and texts)

Would work, with both models I believe;

  1. Unlock your Apple Watch to access the menu
  2. From the "Clock" first menu you see, drag from the bottom of the screen to the top. This icon menu should have it's Wifi icon light-grey to signifiy "Off" (See "1" in image below). If blue=already ON but possible no valid connexion

3. In the Wifi menu, drag "Wi-Fi" ON so that it is green (see "1" on capture).

    • Then, just below, available connexions will appear.
    • Click on one to select it then use the AppleWatch "finger keyboard" to enter that, I hope for you, not too long Wifi password.

With my Series 3, once it has an internet Wifi password entered, and the AppleWatch logged in, my iPad and Macbook can be closed or missing and the Watch will have "autonomous" internet-capabilities
