Every time I get into my car, the iPhone connects to bluetooth, it just continues playing what was playing before. If I have the Apple Music app on the phone it plays that most of the time but I exclusively use Spotify, I need that to play, does anyone have any ideas? I have tried shortcuts but it is always hit and miss whether it works.

It sounds like you're having trouble with your device autoplaying when you connect to your car and we can help.
Your car is sending a signal akin to pressing play on the infotainment dash. Your iPhone will play Music by default, but if you have something else open in Now Playing, for example Spotify or Podcasts, then that will play instead.
One option might be for you to turn off this auto playing on your car. Some cars have a function in the infotainment settings to turn this off.
