When will multiple external monitor support come to Macs with M1 chips?

It is a hardware issue not an OS issue. The M1 Mac Mini supports two external monitors now.

The MacBook Pro/Air M1 Macs support one external display.

As we are fellow users, we are obviously not aware of Apple's internal hardware planning or able to answer "when" questions. The current M1 laptops have the external display restriction as mentioned already by BobTheFisherman.
