Migration of data from old MacBook Pro (OS X Yosemite) to new MacBook Air (Sur 14)

Once I select the option "To another Mac" on old MacBook, I should get a code as per this guide. However I don't see the image of new MacBook Air and when continue button is pressed, I get an error "Unable to connect to MacBook Air". The firewall is off.

This might be a blessing. Depending on what you intended to Migrate - there could be a Real Problem created on the New M1 Computer with Big Sur. The Old Yosemite has applications that will NOT Work on Big Sur. Yosemite was a 32 Bit OS and Applications and None of those application would work on Big Sur where everything Has to be 64 Bit or it will not work. There is no workaround period.

Move your content to a new Mac and use only User Account and nothing else.
