Emails being sent from my email address

It is a common ploy by spammers to use a random email address as the from address. It is simple to do as you putting anyone's street address as the return address on a snail mail. The spammer will move on and use someone else's address in time.

To add to BobTheFisherman's response if you're concerned you can email to people in your Contacts to warn them that there may be spam emails that appear to come from you. One option could be to say that when you send an email you'll put some symbol, i.e. @, %, # or similar, in the topic field to alert them that it's from you.
