Cannot open Outlook mailbox on my iPad ios 10.3.4 Ok on all other devices. Cannot download new Outlook App on this version of iPad.

Cannot open Outlook mailbox on iPad. Mailbox icon has blue vertical line through it. Can open on iPhone & Dell laptop. Normally open via Safari, also now tried M'soft Edge, same problem. Cannot download Outlook App as says I need version 13.0 minimum. M'soft tell me it is an Apple problem not Outlook. Can someone please help?

The MS Outlook App now requires iPadOS13 or later. Your iPad4 cannot be updated to reach this minimum OS requirement.


You can still access your Outlook mailbox using the iPad Mail App. Configure your Outlook account from iPad Settings.


Be aware that in common with many other Mail providers, Microsoft now uses App Specific Passwords to access IMAP or POP3 mailboxes. This password must be created from your Microsoft account. More details can be found here:

Thank you for your reply and advice. Please can I answer your 3 points in order.

  1. Yes I can access emails via the iPad Mail App but I can only read new emails, can do nothing else.
  2. 'Configure Outlook account from iPad settings', sorry when I open 'Settings' I cannot find any link to my Outlook account.
  3. The link you sent me re two step verification, two step verification is OFF on my iPad so not linked to the App.

Perhaps you can provide further advice or point me in the right direction If I have misunderstood you. Thank You.
