Mouse not workingwhen connecting HDMI to a moniter

Hi,

I am using a Samsung monitor to mirror/extend my display. I am using a Moshi USB-c converter that has never given me problems. I have a Philips wireless mouse that I connect via USB to the same port as the HDMI cable and works really well, but as soon as I mirror my display the mouse lags and doesn't work. I suspect it could be using the same port for all of this but I could be wrong. My trackpad on the other hand works perfectly fine and I never seem to have an issue with this.
